The DVD drive and DVD burner are not showing up under My Computer on a system running Win XP Pro.
Under Device Manager both DVD drives appear with Yellow ! and the message:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged (Code 19).
The troubleshooting steps do not resolve the problem. The DVD drives have the latest driver. I have turned them off in BIOS in which case they do not appear under Device Manager. When I reboot and turn them back on in the BIOS, they appear under Device Manager with Yellow !s.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled them through Device Manager, too.
My guess is that some program hosed up their registry entries--the machine has a program called CloneCD installed. Any ideas? Thanks very much.
