I can't find the explanation for the long-short-short-short beep that I hear when loading W98 on my optiplex gx110.
I have taken a look at the beep codes on the Dell site, but can't make head or tails from the list...

blom0344,
Depending on the Bios ie:Award,Phoenix,AMI and the age of the PC the error beeps may be due to bad RAM or Faulty Keyboard Controller.

This is Phoenix Bios.
Am I missing something with the beep codes?
I hear long-short-short-short, how does that translate to a code?

Are you hearing the beeps with the BIOS or with the windows load. If during windows load you are hearing the results of hardware detection and it is not a problem.
