As an Oracle developer, I work with documents that reference Oracle reserved words, table and column names like INSERTED_DATETIME. The underscore is commonly used to separate words.

When I double-click, Windows selects: [tab][highlight]INSERTED[/highlight]_DATETIME
What I really need selected is:[tab][tab][tab][tab][highlight #FF99FF]INSERTED_DATETIME[/highlight]

Is there a setting somewhere that I can change in Windows or Word 2003?

That type of thing is application specific. Each program handles events like keyboard or mouse clicks in it's own way.
