What are the steps to loading in a patch for an Option 81?

You have to have knowledge and passwords for PDT, if you do not have those then contact your vendor.

Depends if you're patching a single patch or a deplist.

Single patches must be done from PDT.
Deplist can be done from LD 143 or PDT.

Release 4.x and above uses the MDP command in LD 143
Release 3.0 and below uses the MDCS command in LD 143 - applies to large system only.

Small system release 3.0 and below must use PDT to install patches.

if your trying to install all new patches you can do it without pdt commands.. ld 143 mdcs ? will show you the patch.. but you need all patches on a disk in the door..

thanks for the info. I was trying to understand the process because I will be working with a remote person in putting in a loadware patch too large to upload remotely.

I didn't know you could PINS without PDT!

Be careful LoadWare Patches are different to DEPList/PatchLoad!!
