I was just recently doing some reading on Nortel's website that the M2000 series of phone have been manufature discontinued so I was looking at the M3000 series phones for the next time i have to replenish the supply of spare phones. But I dont believe that my switch will allow me to use those phones. When I try and do a new and tell it type 39xx it errors back. I have an option 11c with 2 cabinets currently running release 23 issue 18+ I'm guessing that the release of code is what is holding me back. If this is the case what is the min. release I need to be on to get this phone style to work. And if anyone might be able to give me a ball park as to what it would cost to upgrade the release. Also is there any type of document out there that shows what features are added or what things have discontinued with different releases of code.

the rls will go to rls 4 or 4.5 which ever they are shipping, they don't offer 24.xx after it's been replaced. i don't have a list as to what you gain other then support and cost is such a wide param, i wouldn't want to even ballpark a number.. one thing you'l get is voip ready, along with way more expensive lic as opposed to tn's.. if i was on your rls and could i would but a few hundred tn's, install those then do the upgrade, they convert to lic which are around twice as expensive

I think we have maxed out the switch for tn's right now. around 200 digital sets and 100 analog sets. thanks for the release info. i guess i'll get in touch with a few vendors. are there any that you recommend for this type of work.

find someone in your area with a track record. check with some of there customers before signing anything. the opt 11 can go up to 5 or 6 cab's.. ld 22 slt will show you the tn's you have permision to use via keycodes

Rlse 24.xx was the first software release to support the Taurus (M39xx) range. All phones including the M20xx, M2616 etc will be OK on Call Server software. My works 11c system is using all of the various models without any known problems.

All the best

your Rels 23 is already end of life. unless you have a pressing need to have 3900 phones, you can still get 2000 series phones and probally for the next 10 years from the secondary market. the same with your Option 11C, you must be getting service from a non partner.

I'm not sure if our service provider is partner or not. This really all started beacuse our IT guys (including myself) wanted the ability to use headsets on our phones, as well as add caller id when I did a bit of research I found that I could either use an external amp and headset and purchase a m2008 display phone or go up to the m3903 that has the built in headset jack. not having either piece of the above hardware i figured it would be the better and less cluttered solution to use the new style phones.

we also have a few remote sites that we would like to be able to connect back to our phone system using voip. we have a gigabit connection between the sites so a little voip traffic would be nothing. on the issue of voip does anyone know of a way to connect an analog fax line into a meridian voip system. is there some type of adapter? The remote sites all have 2 phone lines as well as a fax line. the phones i would have no issue switching to a digital voip set but i still need a way to provide the analog fax line.

As always everyones help is appriciated
Thanks

there was a post here recently about a new ata for voip sets, i didn't save it to a file since i cisco my voip here. but yes, it's out
