Hi all,

a client has a meridian option 11c with a universal trunk card. They are looking to connect up "SIM modules" to allow calls out to go directly via a GSM mobile rather than via landline then to mobile. Based in ireland. Can anyone let me know the manufacturer of a compatable SIM module?

cheers

umm,it IS supposed to do that, right??

Hey man
I think here in South Africa we call it Premi Cells or cell routers or lease cost routing. Am I correct in saying you want cell phone calls to go out via the "simm" cards? We use a little device called a cell router - it contains a simm card and then acts like a cell phone. You have to set up a new route and do the necessary spn entries. Hope this helps.
This is quite big in SA - seeing our only Lan line provider is very expensive.

Thanks for the info guys. i've had a look at the install guide for the premicell and it looks like it'll just take a 2 wire analogue link off the UTC, would that be right?

Jip - it works like a charm - if your routes are there and you have done your ld 86 rlb and ld 90 net.

thats great folks.... i've also just found something called a Nokia 22 on their site which is specifically designed for PBX connection.... same idea though....

Only moan I had with the three premicells I had, was positioning ............... much like a mobile, bad positioning lent itself to call drop-out, interference etc
Also found that a weekly turn-off [smack] turn-back-on stopped them from "taking" the route but actually doing naff all !!!

Handy Hint #2 : if you have MMail & PCells check that the access is denied in MMail Dialthru ... I had the case where 9 was disallowed in Mmail (Normal external access) but 4 wasn't .... [insert name of company here] installed PC's with 4 as access and didn't add it to permissions tree in MMAil ...... end result Dail-Thru Fraud (using a toll free so we hit x2 !!!!!!!)
