I'm quite new to W2K server, I've got a machine running as a server with only one application clients will connect to, what majour changes can I do to optimize the server for this? I've done the following already:

* Moved the pagefile to another disk witch only has the pagefile (4 gb).

* Disabled all (?) unnecessary services (are there a particular service I SHOULD stop?)

* In the performance tab optimized the server for applications.

If anyone has any ideas of what further changes I could do I would be greatful.

Kind regards
/Jim

Btw, this machine is a desktop PC, 1 ghz CPU, 512 mb RAM, and the server is running on the integrated NIC. Have had thoughts of putting in a 3COM pci NIC but there are no free pci slots. Are those integrated nic's bad? It's a IBM 10/100.

You say the page file is on a seperate drive - do you mean a separate partion or physical drive? There is more speed to be gained by placing the pagefile on a seperate physical drive - Will the server be used as a Print server - if so it may be benifical to move the spool folder onto a seperate drive - along with the TEMP directory.
