I have a Windows 2K3 server running Exchange 2003 with 4GB of RAM. I get the following error message from time to time : "The memory settings for this server are not optimal for Exchange."

Microsoft suggest modifying the boot.ini file but I'm not sure where on the file I should add the /3GB. Help anyone?

Boot.ine is on the root of the C: drive. To see it, in exporer under tools/folder options/view you need to view hidden files and show protected operating system files. Add the /3GB switch, and the /USERVA=3030 switch as well.

thanks for the quick response!

I have figured out how to find the ini file the problem I'm having is that I don't know where in the file I add the /3gb ? At the end, beggining?

Thanks!

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows Server 2003" /fastdetect /3GB /USERVA=3030

or something similar.
