are there any ticks/options to be set to get terminal server running applications smoother, remote users are using ADSL - yet they can type faster than the screen can keep up in applications.

I had he same problem, except we have dedicated 512k connections. I had a single proccessor machine and replaced it with a quad zeon and sovled the problem.

Is there any resource on the server that is especially taxed when the users are seeing problems?

If you do not experience this problem when they are in the office, it may not be a hardware issue. What is the pipe size coming out of your office and how many users are coming in?

I would suggest Citrix Metaframe on top of your Terminal Server as it uses less bandwidth and also has options for fixing (masking) the problem you are seeing (called speedscreen).

Adding memory on your terminal server helps improve the performance. I've tried it and the speed increase is very significant.
