Optical mouse driver won't install

My laptop HD exploded yesterday :-( so i proceded to reinstall everything, almost everything is fine but i cannot get my MS optical mouse to work. When i plug it in it detects it saying Microsoft 3 button mouse with Intellieye detected but it fails to find a driver, i'm certain that i've never had to install a driver before it just worked. I've downloaded IntelliPoint 5.2 and 5.5 from MS that is supposed to have the drivers but still nothing.

Can anyone make any suggestions.

Running XP SP2 on an Acer Aspire notebook.

No help there im afraid luckily i had to reinstall again and it's suddenly fine again. MAD.
