All,

The solution to resolve an M3904 Message Waiting Light not coming on:

Because the set was an ACD set the DID number was not on Key 0, and because there were other line appearances on three other sets, Octel didn't know which lamp to light up. The line appearances on the other sets were removed and the vmail lamp began to work.

However, we originally didn't think the MWI was fixed while testing because of a faulty troublshooting proceedure. When the first test message was sent, Octel sent the command to turn the MWI on. Octel doesn't send additional commands to turn the MWI on with additional messages. The additional messages just sit queued in the vmail box. To test properly, test messages have to be listened to, before continuing to send the next vmail test message.

i've seen that.. if the mail knows the mwi is on, it will not send the request to turn it on.. if you use cls lmpx, octel might work to the acd sets..

John,

While the user is content with our fix (he really didn't want his line appearing on other sets any way), if it comes up again, I'll certainly remember to try the CLS LMPX!
