I am receiving the following errors when trying to complete a full backup on my Meridian Opt.11C.
ACT: Refer to the Tape Error checlist
DES Tape 1 }sense key :6

DES Backup error. Lookup return code in NTP SEERs. for
F8...x.. 1517

The error indicates faulty SCSI hardwar. I have replaced the tape drive and tapes, checked the cable terminations.

ANY ideas as to what else may be causing the failure?

For an option 11, why aren't you backing up to PCMCIA card? or direct connecting to TTY-0 port and downloading to a laptop?

The PBX that is having the problem is across the country from me. I dial into it for remote administration.

I'll take it you don't have a modem on your TTY port zero?
The thing is if you had to go there to change out the tape drive, it would have been easier to just pop a PCMCIA in the card slot.

I shipped out a new tape drive and had a local secretary swap it out.
