Hi,

Im trying to decide on trend micro, or NAV ce 7.6 for our
centrally managed virus protection.

I figured this would be a good place to put this post, as most sys admins who manage win2k servers, will also manage
there virus solutions.

So far, im liking Symantes interface better, and ease of
instalation, and deployment.

All comments appreciated,
Thank You
Mike

I would recommend McAfee ASaP, it is web-based and managed through their servers. I removed the McAfee TVD product and switched to this as the "push" or "pull" to update individual workstations was not easy to manage and had troubles keeping everyone up to date.
The new ASaP product seems to take much less system resources from each box too. My users have said their systems are much faster after this install (and it removed all other AV product automatically during this install.) Was the easier AV upgrade I've ever done...now they connect, update AV files, and scan twice a day, reporting directly to the McAfee server. I log in and see who was infected, who gets infected most, what the last infection was...also get e-mails when infection happens.

And I don't work for them, or any AV company.

<Imagine the training you can do to your one user who runs every attachment they ever recieve i.e. IAMAVIRUSSILLY.EXE, WIPEHDVIRUS.EXE and such!>

I use TrendMicro ServerProtect with an Information Server and VCS....this works great, and I have no worries over my system and viruses. It's also good that it can update my ScanMail for Exchange as well.

I would recommend this as a good choice of AntiVirus protection.

Either one is an excellent choice. I would decide by price. We run Norton and I haven't had any problems with it, but I have also used Trend Micro with the same results back when I did Network Integration. At the time Trend was more expensive with the addons such as Exchange but that may have changed since then.
