We have a faq855-5802 here on spawning an external process, is that what you mean? Aren't OOo documents are just xml files? If so and you're trying to alter them like you would with MSOffice COM object, it can prove much easier.
Also, like all server-side code, you'd be opening this application on the server, not the client.
