It's best to save the Word as .txt or .rtf (.txt is less problematical though.). Save as .txt and use Get text in Quark.
You chould never cut and paste Word pics into any design program. They should be runh through pPhotoshop or something first and saved as .tiff, jhpg, etc. Word does not handle pics well at all - at least as compared to proper layout apps.
