Hi, does anyone have any code for opening various file types from a microsoft access form.

I have a form that displays all files within a specific directory, but what I want to do is to be able to click on a button and open the file using its associated program. eg click on test.doc and it opens word, blahblah.pdf and it opens acrobat.

I can shell programs, but I would have thought that there would be a more intelligent way of doing it, as you can double click on a word document and it opens word automatically, is there no way of harnessing this stored info about the filetype?

Thanks for your help

Ian

I like this idea, because it is so simple, but I have an issue. When it opens the word document it has the web toolbar floating and I don't want it to do that. I suspect it is because it was opened via a hyperlink, but I would like to set it not to do that.

Also, I am opening a word document that is set up as a mail merge. I would love a way to have it automatically answer yes to the question of the select sql statement to the db. Does anyone know of a way to do these things?
Thanks
