We have a Web application that generates an Excel MIME file and sends it to the user's browser. When using NT and IE, the spreadsheet opens up within the browser without any menu bar at the top of the browser window. The problem is that this inhibits the user from scrolling through the spreadsheet and making changes. When using Windows 98, this same behaviour occurs but it can be corrected by going into Explorer, clicking on View, Folder Options, and File Types, then selecting Excel, click on 'edit' and then uncheck a box entitled 'Browse in same window'. Unchecking this box causes the Excel MIME document to load in Excel in its own Excel window complete with all of the usual Excel command menu options.
In NT, you can select View, Options, and File Types, but there is no check box similar to 'Browse in same window'.
Does anyone know what to change in order to open Excel documents in their own windows when using IE?
By the way, Excel documents open in an Excel window when using Navigator.
