Hi

Can someone please tell me the command to open and shut the cd? There is an installation cd in there that i need to get out! Many Thanks.

Thiko!

Eject button should become active when cd is unmounted. At least on the unix I work with. Ed Fair

If you have a process that is referencing the CD, it won't unmount or open.

Close down terminal windows - you may even need to log off and on again with some *NIXes (I found that HP-UX tends to leave child processes hanging in mid-CD access).

Try
$ eject /dev/cdrom *works on linux*
if it doesnt work and you dont know which device
file cdrom is mapped to, try
$ mount | grep /dev

for closing the tray the command is "eject -t"
