Open Programs area of Task Bar

I have a computer that when you open any application it works fine but it doesn't show up in the Open Programs area of Task Bar. So if you minimize it you have to use task manager to access it.

I suspect this is malware.
There are several versions of the NoClose malware that either minimizes everything, and will not maximize; or the behavior you describe.

A good run through of the steps in faq608-4650 should cure it. Be sure to run the online antivirus scans from Trend Micro and Panda mentioned in Step #1, but do steps #2-#3 as well.
