Is there an equivalent function in Win98SE to XP's services.msc?

Not without third party tools.

I suspect you want to shut down the service that runs the port you specified.

Try this...

Also, if you are on a broadband connection, I recommend getting a router, or using zonealarm as a personal firewall (I personally don't like software firewalls, I recommend a linksys router)

Yes, I do want to shut it. I had been looking at that program and was waiting to hear someone recommend it. I have installed it and run it twice -- run the "Am I vulnerable" and "Decombobulate Me" twice and rebooted twice, but the port is still open. This program is exactly what I'm looking for as I have had problems that involve 135. Is there some tweak I can make? PIII, 500, WIN98SE.
