i've got a terminal client session (to a win2000 server), each time when i try to open a xls/doc document i receive the message 'already opened, ...'.
I can then open the document after clicking ok ,no one else has opened the document at that time.
Are you trying to open the document/spreadsheet with word/excel already started? If not try to open the office application first to check that it functions properly. If not it may because office has not had it compatibility script run. This script makes changes to the registry that office needs to run in a multi user system. I think all versions of Office except XP need this certainly 2000 does even though it claims to be terminal server aware. You can get the scripts from microsofts site or
when i open the office appl. and then the document i don't get the message, so is this then an off. or terminal client problem ?
You may send the script to sclessin@hotmail.com
It sounds very much like the Terminal server compatibilty script hasn't been run, these are the kinds of quirks that occur. The other thing you might like to check is that .doc .xls .ppt .mdb files are associated with the correct programs and not just default programs. When you look in your my documents folder do you see a word icon for a word document or do you just get the default windows icon. Finally I need to know which version of Office you are running so I can send you the right script
