Having a problem with IE 6. Cannot open a link in a new window. All i get is a blank screen and that never loads the the link i have clicked on. Downgraded to IE 5. Even reloaded Win98. No change. What to do

Howdy:

Try this..

Start>Run and type in regsvr32.exe urlmon.dll (copy and paste the command if you want) and press <enter>

Wait for the confirmation dialogue and reboot..

IF sesask's advice doesn't get you there...
take a deep breath and follow what MS suggests:

Lots of ppl having the problem, apparently. (like that helps!)
I found some other things to try...but the dates were earlier than the fix I linked you to.

I had the same problem. It's very annoying. This worked for me.

START
RUN
shell.dll
urlmon.dll
mshtml.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut.dll
shdocvw.dll

(you have to run these one at a time)

This solution, which I got from another thread on this site from a user (PKtips, I believe), worked like magic.
