open a window when a window is closed

Hi there,
Is there a way to detect when the user closes a window?
What I am trying to do is to open up a new window when the first one is closed.

Any input is helpful !

Hi,
Not sure, but do you really want to be one of those sites that open windows without a request to do so?..When I close a window I do not want anything to open ...( I see it as a pop-up and will never visit such a site again).

Provide your visitors/users with explicit links to somewhere else when they are done with the window they are in...

Investigate the "onunload" and "onbeforeunload" events. Be aware that the latter may be IE-only.
