Hi All,
I have a bit of a major problem. I ran the Windows Update utility over the weekend on a Windows ME PC. The first update to be completed was an upgrade for Internet Explorer. After completing and rebooting the PC, the only thing that is displayed is the Desktop Wallpaper. There are no icons or taskbar displayed.
I've tried booting the PC using a Windows 98 boot disk and renaming explorer.exe. I've also looked at the system.ini and win.ini files and nothing seems out of the ordinary. Alas nothing I've tried works. If possible I don't want to have to re-install Windows ME. Surely the process of doing a Windows Update should not cause these problems?
Has anyone come across this problem before. If so how can I fix it?
TIA,
Rab.
