Hi,
I did search but found no answer.
I have four computers with two printers hooked to a router and a switch.
Recently (after adding the switch) when I connect a pc that I'm trying to fix up , at start up I get a
"Your system allows only 6 instances of TCP/IP" and can not connect to any networked computer or the internet.(Charter Cable)

Question: Can any one relate to this problem?
I have tried upgrading the bios on several pc's to see if it was board related.

Is the answer in the switch?
Thanks for any help any one can offer. Ron:

Your ISP is only allowing you to attach 6 systems to their network. I am assuming that you are using their DOCSIS cable modem. If you buy your own, then you shouldn't have this problem.

The only way that you can get past this barrier is to remove one of your systems, install your own DHCP and NAT server, or replace the cable modem. Unless they will let you modify the configuration of the cable modem that you are leasing from them.
