No, but then it's a phone system interface not a social networking site, I just tell them to leave that alone 
I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to revive it. We're dealing with the same issue.
We are asking the customer to extend their communication tools to their PC's.
An IM client without notification of an incoming message is, at best, of limited value.
Someone please tell me I'm missing a setting somewhere.

no setting to fix this as of yet. I'll try and bring this up in the R8 beta trials at the end of the month. big issue for me too. Phone manager Pro had this working I believe.
