I have the Outlook plug installed everything works except the user status does not update and changes to contacts don't take effect unless I close and reopen Outlook. Is there a way to make it refresh?
Typically the client not refreshing is the result of the server to client traffic being blocked or misdirected. While the initial status can be obtained because the request is initiated by the client, thus any return traffic from the server is allowed as the request started as an outbound call. Updates are pushed by the server to the client without an open outbound request.
Start with your firewall, either on the local PC or the edge appliance. Start with 5222 and 8086 as suspects.
Here is a complete list of ports:
• 4560 - This port is used by log4j socket appender.
• 5222 - This port is used for XMPP client/server communication.
• 5269 - This port is used for server to server federation. This port federates with the External XMPP servers or XMPP enabled servers such as GTalk, Yahoo, and MSN.
• 5269 - This port is used for XMPP server to server federation. If the customer is not intending to federate with external XMPP servers then this port does not need to be opened on the firewall.
• 8005 - Used by the Tomcat shutdown listener.
• 8080 - Default HTTP browser access port. This port number can be changed during installation.
• 8082 - The database component of the one-X Portal for IP Office uses this port.
• 8086 - This port is used for HTTPS access to MyBuddy.
• 8443 - Used for HTTPS access to one-X Portal for IP Office (Only for Windows installation of the one-X Portal for IP Office).
• 8444 - This port is used for initial communication between the mobility client (Android/iPhone) and the one-X Portal for IP Office. If customer is NOT using the mobility client or is only using it on the internal WiFi network, then this port does not need to be opened on the firewall.
• 8666 - This port is used by the JVMX component of the one-X Portal for IP Office. This port number can be changed during installation.
• 9094 - This port is used for OpenFire XML RPC (Remote Procedure Call) and administration console.
• 9095 – This port is used by the OpenFire admin console (https).

It did update untill i upgraded to 8.0.16 and upgraded the 1XP to the GA release.
I was the only one using it and now a couple of users use it and it does not update (only after 30 seconds or so)
I have it working with Firefox.
I use IE9 and i did the changes in the internet option and it works now.
I just did add the ports in the the firewall and the plugin loads much quicker within outlook (that was annoying slow) but still no updates for BLF.
And now it is not working again. Tried to uninstall and reinstall again but did not work this time. It quit after I added a system contact to my personal list.
Now that is interesting.
I could not add a user in the outlook plugin.
I added them in the personal directory for the user.
Then i started the plugin and it did not update.
In the trials i could add users in the plugin.
How are you guys getting on with the One X outlook plug in I have got it running in the lab on OL 2007 and the presence is updating on the users OK the only problem I have is the voice mail is not showing the messages. One X web interface is OK but the Outlook will not show voice mail messages.
I think avayafw is old and dosnt cover the ports for outlook plugin. I have talked to Avaya presales guys and trhey have the same issue. I have no firwall running so its ether a bug or install issue.
I think it is related to a firewall on the exchange server.
It is not on the PC side, it is on the exchange server side.
But it worked for me on the trials so i don't get it.
Understand I am not using the exchange component so not expecting any Calendar updates. But the rest should work
The IT department in my company won’t run the script for the permissions on the exchange server unless I can tell them how to manually change these setting so they can see what it’s doing. I have had no luck getting that sort of information.
