One way Speach

This is driving me mad

We have a system with 60 users

406 v2 on 2.1 51 software
2 dt 30 modules
1 phone 16


we have 2 extensions on the whole system 205 and 220 which have intermitant one way speach.

I have chnage the:-

406
DT Modules
moved users to other DT Modules
deleted and recreated users extension etc

Recabled the ports for those phones

last resort

Avaya made me spend 2 days retyping the config

2 days latter the isuue is all back

sytems has had multiple software levels and more


Help this is becoming a big issue

one phone is a director and the other is a order line.
 
that was the first thing we did there isn't much I haven't tried
 
Try to use another building patch as far as possible from the current one. I've seen this once on DT phones and we searched on it for months until it turned out there was some interference on the building cabling.
 
Are you using VMPro and huntgroups?

In technicalbulletin 063 is stated that in 2.1.62 CQ24199 is resolved: intermittent one-way talk path using VMPro and huntgroups.

If so upgrade (again) to the latest 2.1.73 release.
 
Not for these extensions they just have direct dial for 220 and 205 just has a direct dial and internal extension no group

how would you test for interference on the cables

and how did you solve this issue
 
and wath happens when you plug the phones right on the IPO ???
 
That was tested in the early days and we had the same issues
 
rebuild your config
looks like the only solution because it is not the cabling and it is also not the ports so it must be your config
pull the config and default the unit and reprogram it
 
why not just upgrade to a newer "known-good" release like 3.1.65. I've seen phantom issues like this go away doing this. Sometimes not all issues are known and documented with each release but they inevtiably fix (and sometimes break) things they didn't intend to.

2.1(73) is the latest you can go with DT phones.

Are you using IMS?? I know of an issue with 2.1(25) VM Pro just in case you do upgrade.

Are you on CW1308 cabling or Cat 5. Are you using secondary sockets/adaptors??

No IMS

CAT 5 Cabling

Avaya want me to run a DTE Trace which gives me no output

Record a converstaion with this issue


also run a system monitor trace.

The DTE won't show much when the systems is running. you should get ok as a response to the AT command.

Make sure your Com settings are correct 38000 etc.

These are standard responses from Avaya and you will have to supply the traces for them to look at it.

DT System Guys thanks for all your help

Going to run Traces for the whole week and get some times of the problem happened.
