onDragDrop

I am trying to use the onDragDrop event but it seems not to work. If I drag an object into my browser the event is not launched and also the behaviour is the usual when dragging objects into a browser; the object is opened or launched!
After searching a lot of examples about this, I didn't found anyone working as expected in my browser. I have IE5.5

Did anybody had the same problem and know the solution?
Could you help me?

I looked it up in my javascript book, and the event is named
but it states anywhere how its used or when it fires.
