Onboard 5.1 sound - system connection...

Hey,
thank you all for your help in a different thread.

Now, this might be stupid, but I guess I'm a noob anyways.
I have an asus p4c800 deluxe motherboard with 5.1 onboard sound and a 5.1 speaker system.
I just don't know hoe to connect the speaker system to the mobo, since it only has like 3 out/inputs, of which I think one is line-in, one's line-out and one is mic-in.

It also has adigital audio connector or something that's like right below the parallel port.

The speaker system however came with like 6 different connectors (2x front, 2x rear, sub and center) how do I manage to get soround sound out of this?
oh yeah I changed the windows audio settings in the control panel to 5.1 soround sound, but since I can't connect all those wires anyways...

it should say in your mobo menu how to connect this...

usually, what happens is that once you've switched your soundcard to 5.1 then it maps 1 hole to the front speakers, 1 the the back speakers, and 1 the the sub and centre speaker...

you should check your mobo to see exactly what matches with what, or you could just plug them in, and wack on some sound and do it by trial and error...

check manual chapter 5.3.5 (in german manual, might diff. in english) sound max software, there is described how in a 6 speaker enviroment the connectors should be used.

If your speaker system has single (mono) connectors for each left and right channel you'll need to get adaptors that will take each left/right pair into a single stereo mini-jack. Then it's normally paired Front L/R, Rear L/R and sub/centre. Your manual will give the exact details
