Is there any place to get old VM PRO files that I can download? I need 3.0 and 3.1 so I can upgrade from 2.x to 3.2, according to the Tech Bulletins. But those are not on the AVAYA web site.

And yes, I have a stingy customer who wants to keep his 403...

It is a major upgrade so i can not see why you need to do that

With an upgrade like that rebuilding is probably a smatter thing to do anyway

If I rebuild, do they lose old voicemials and greetings? I would think so.

The VM upgrade is not the same as a system upgrade. You can keep greetings and messages, but how hard is it ot re-record your message?...not very :)

you could try backupreg.bat and restorereg.bat but really since the vm messages are wavs you can easily distribute

Re-recording a greeting is not a problem. Loosing old voicemails is a problem.

I guess I warn them they might go away when I upgrade.

BTW you will lose distinctive ringing between internal and external calls. 2.0 has very distinctive rings. They are not so distinct moving forward.

I have found you can in fact uninstall VM and re-install a higher version and even then it keeps the old messages and greetings etc. Still do it the right way though as it's all "just in case" and you can never be too careful :)

Just copy the VM folder and you have it all :)

you will not lose the messages with 3.2 as they are still in the same format as the lower releases. they are still 000123.wav and not that new funky hex_number.wav
when in doubt make a good backup (complete VM folder is easiest even though overkill)then upgrade and test.
