OL2003 Cached Exchange Mode Will Not Work

Hello,

Oi it's been a long week! I upgraded from Exch 5.5 to 2003. I've only got one more 5.5 mailbox to merge onto the new Exch2003 box.

Now, I've got a few users (who have mailboxes already on Exch2003 box) trying to connect with their OL2003 clients in Cached Exchange Mode. They get an error upon opening Outlook "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened."

I tried deleting and recreating the user's mail profile. Then when they open Outlook it says it's setting up the mailbox for the first time use, but then stops at "Outlook cannot open the default mail folders." Closing, rebooting, renaming OST file, same thing.

The only way I can get this user into Outlook is if I disabled Cached Exchange Mode.

Any ideas?
 
I have seen this in customized setup where the OST file is not on the Local drive .ost file. Check in the profile to see where the location of the .ost file is. Not where it is on disk, but where the profile says it should be.

What happens if you set up the profile without cached mode and then after that is working try to enable cached mode on that same profile?

Markdmac, I actually just tried that, no joy. Gordemer, I'll check to see if the laptop is storing the OST where the profile says it is and report back. Thanks for your help.
 
OST was corrupted. I actually had to physically delete it and create a new one.
