Hi,
Some of our users are experiencing prolonged issues of the RPC Dialogue Box (connecting to exchange server etc) appearing whilst they are working on-line from their OL2002/WinXp clients (to Exchange 2000 SP3 + rollup) and connected using VPN across ADSL circuits.
However, the dailogue box does not time out and frequently causes the individual computers to hang. The problem does not occur with locally connected computers, nor computers connected across a (slower) Frame Relay circuit.
I suspect the problem is related to the inherent unreliability of DSL circuits, but have so far been unable to identify a fix. I can't believe that I have the only users in the scenario so would welcome any suggestions.
I have tried disabling the RPC dialogue box. This disables the box appearing, but does not stop the hanging. I have also reduced the MTU size on the PC (to abou 1200 bytes) to try and prevent the connection creating unreasonably sized frames. Any other suggestions please?
Thanks in anticipation
Martyn
