Hello,

I am looking to do an offsite backup of all my data using some type of NAS device. This NAS will be stored in a remote office connected to my central office by T1. I need to backup data from several different servers, ie Windows, AIX, and Linux. What kind of software can do this? Does Veritas make something that does this? Thanks guys.

I am from Availl.

Does continuous backup - 24 x 7. Just sends deltasin real-time, so traffic is gone. Store can be anywhere. Crosses firewalls.

For Veritas their solution would be Netbackup 5.0. It's completely heterogeneous with clients for nearly any major OS. Within Netbackup you can define a drive mapping (e.g. to your NAS) to backup to. Finally, 5.0 is new and has received great reviews.

Concerning Availl it only runs on Windows. There are currently no clients or servers for any version of *NIX. This nixes the interoperability without doing something in-house. For example, you could backup your AIX data via NFS to your Windows server where Availl could replicate it.

Online file replication is always an option for DR...talk to us about your needs.

Thanks for all the great info!

CommVault Galaxy would handle this with ease :-)
