Windows XP Pro connected to a SBS 2003 domain.

I am trying to increase the offline file space on the local machine but its not keeping the change.

Control Panel--Folder Option--Offline Files

Currently offline files has 2gb of space want to change to 20 but when I click ok and reopen the options its back to 2 gb. Why is this happening? Or any idea why this is happening?

Thankx

See if there is any help here.

HOW TO: Use Offline Files in Windows XP (Q307853)

The default cache size is set to 10 percent of available disk space, but you can change this setting. On the Offline Files tab, under Amount of disk space to use for temporary offline files, drag the slider to the right to increase the cache size or to the left to decrease the cache size.

• To see how much disk space the cache is using, open the Offline Files folder, and on the File menu, click Properties.

This behavior is by design."
SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Windows Explorer, in the Folder Options dialog box, you set the value for Amount of disk space to use for temporary offline files option so that the value is larger than 2 gigabytes (GB). After you make this change, you open the Folder Options dialog box again. You notice that the value for the setting has reverted to the previous value.

CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the client-side cache for temporarily-cached files is limited to 2 GB. This limitation exists because the signed 32-bit integer internally stores the cache size value.

Temporary caching occurs when a client accesses a share that is marked for automatic caching. These files are cached on use. However, the client-side cache may temporarily remove these files if there is not sufficient space in the cache.

This limitation does not apply to manually-cached files. Manual caching occurs when you right-click a file or folder in Windows Explorer, and then you click Make Available Offline.

This limitation does not apply to manually-cached files.

HHmmm

Would this cause the client not to be able to add files to "my document"? It keeps saying that the disk if full but the server HD its on has 60gb free. When you right click on the users share it has over to GB of data.

No.

But the user may have exceeded their disk quota.

Thankx for the help

Found it on the server, right clicking on properties of the HD and changing the quota.
