A few people are having a problem keeping MS Word from automatically closing (For example, after a minute of not using the application, it closes down). Can you tell me how to keep the application open all the time?

A few things to try:

Under Start, Run, type in the whole path to winword.exe and then type a space followed by /a. Click OK.

If that cures your problem, then rename or delete normal.dot. Make sure that there are not more than once instance of normal.dot

Next, check to see if you have you pdfmaker.dot in the startup directory. If it is, delete it or move it out.

Still, if no success, then close Word (actually all apps) go to regedit and delete the following key

\\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word\Data

Shut down, and re-start. The key will re-create itself.
