Office Keeps Freezing on New Machines

Hello Everyone, I have an annoying problem.

When i go into any office XP application (word,excel) and go to open a file. When i click the dropdown box to choose from a list the machine crashes. If i go any other way it works fine. I found it only happens when im connected to the network. I have 2000 pro running and the office application is running locally.

Any insight would be a plus for i am stumpted.

make sure you have installed the service packs for both office and windows. this should fix your problem.

Another thing, depending on what version of office you had running before, it might behoove you to use the clean up utility and then reinstalled XP.

The removal utilities are available at support.microsoft.com seach for theh following KB Articles:

290301 - OFFXP: Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
238413 - OFF2000: Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
176823 - OFF97: Utility to Completely Remove Remaining Office 97 Files and Registry Entries
