Office for Mac compatible with Office for PC?

I work in-house as a Graphic Designer and we are hoping to purchase a Mac for my use.

We make extensive use of "Tasks" and "Calendar" on the PC network and it seems to be the stubbling block to my getting a Mac.

Does anyone know if these features are cross-platform compatible?
