Windows 2000 across the board. When I try to open a excel file from a network share on the W2K server about half of the time it takes about 10-20 seconds for the file to open. And when saving it take about 5 seconds. There are only about 2 people in at a time.It is a Full 100 network with new machines including the server. What could be the problem. Thanks for any help!!!

1- If not using them create a mapped drive instead of a UNC
2- If you have an anti-virus installed in each computer and it is not configured to "ignore" the files from the mapped drive then this will also cause a delay. Shared drives must be scanned by the server, not the workstations.
The cause may be other though.
