Office 2003 save email as a .doc

For some reason in Office 2003 I am unable to save email messages as a .doc. The option is not available in the drop down.
I do have both options to use Word as the editor and viewer checked in Outlook..

Thanks in advance.

Save it as an .rtf file. That file is read by Word just as the .doc file.
