Hi everyone,

I am in the process of deploying Office 2000.
I have created an administrative install share but I want to package it into my Win2K SOE. Therefore I want to keep the size of the image as small as possible. I know that I can customise the install with transform files but is there a way that you can "trim down" the size of the administrative install set? For example, we don't want to include IE5 as we run IE6, and we don't need Outlook either.

Cheers !!!

Royster,

Yes this past quarter we deployed Office 2000 without installing Outlook or IE 6. Some of our web apps weren't ready for IE6 and we use Notes as our primary e-comm program.

Unfortunately I don't know the details of how the package was created, but we distributed this package to 5,000 users over a course of 4 months. We deployed Win2k at the same time as well.

We had about five different standard images that were ghosted on to the PC. Before ghosting My docs, favourites, drive mappings, and Notes files were backed up to a lan resource and restored after new image was ghosted on to the PC. To avoid delays for clients, they got a similar PC back or better than the one they had before. So the only time they had wait was the backup and the restore (20 mins in most cases)

Hope that helps.

Indu I will stop procrastinating tomorrow
