OE SMTP Server login fails after changing domain

I Just changed my NT4 domain name (and servername) on the server and all clients. I don't see a connection to OE's smtp server, but it's the only thing I've done "systemwide" that might cause this.

All my client PC's are getting the login dialog for their smtp server. It's as though they can't authenticate all of a sudden. SBC says there's nothing wrong with their server.

All I can think is that something related to the "account setup" might have been on a remote share whose server name has changed. But my dbx files are all local...buried in "my documents-local settings-microsoft...."

Many thanks for any help with this. I'm baffled.

This morning smtp sending worked again all on it's own, despite SBC's statement that their server was fine.

I'm convinced SBC had a problem.

I think the telco does this a lot:
-Customer says your service is down
-deny the problem exists, and quietly fix it.
-deny there ever was a problem

Thanks to those who spent time pondering this, though!
