Hi

I created a block for people who are not on my mailing list to get the spam automatically put into my delete box, and it worked for a while. The next thing I did was create a second rule to block any messages containing certain words, and now neither rule is working, I am now getting all the spam in my inbox.

This is what I did: In the conditions I ticked off "where the to or cc line contains"
and then in the actions window I ticked off "move it to the specified folder
and then in the rules description it's got the deleted items folder there, and all the names of the approved senders only.

Then I pressed ok, and "apply now" button, and then another box pops up where you have to press "select all" rules to apply now but I am still getting spam into my inbox.

I created a second rule to block certain words, and went through the same steps as the first rule I created.

But it isn't working.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

In the mail rules window, are your rules 'checked' so that the are active?

I may be misunderstanding something here. In the second paragraph, you say "where the to or cc line contains" and "names of the approved senders only" When you receive the mail, you are the to: name. To create a rule that works on a list of approved senders, you would need to check the From field.

Here are some threads that work with mail rules that I was going to put into a FAQ & still haven't done. Maybe something there might help.

Yes the rules are ticked "on"

Ok, I changed the first box to tick off "from"
and "does not contain people" and then I added the email addresses I want kept.

I think now that makes more sense than what I was doing - lol!

Now I'll sit back and wait a couple days to see if I did it right

Well thanks for your help........:)
