Hi,
have Win98 running on a PC that has 2 other PCs connected to it over a network. About twice a day the PC monitor will jump and a blue screen appears. It says:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Windows
An Exception OE has occured at 0028:C159E410 in VxD VNBT(01)+
0000EEF0. This was called from 0028:C001C3D4 in VxD ND1S(01) +
00004860. It may be possible to continue normally.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Press a key and the PC will continue normally but the network connections are broke and the 2 other PCs can no longer connect to the shared drive without a restart of this main PC. It will however continue to operate normally. The 'crash' will occur for no particular reason and without warning. In some cases the PC might have been idle for several hours while on other occasions it may happen while using Word or when you attempt to print from one of the client PCs but as far as I can see the 'crash' occurs randomly.

Have run updated version of Norton AntiVirus but nothing turns up.

Any Suggestions on a course of action????
Thanx for your help.....John Mac

Hi,
This can be caused by numerous items:
I have compiled a list of links however I wouldnt advise doing anything to drastic in case the issue gets worse. A reboot once a day isnt too bad!

Doesn't that little statement "A reboot once a day isn't too bad!" sum up Windoze to a tee?

Ah no,
There are some errors which can be very hard to troubleshoot such as this one.
I was merely advising not to try anything to outrageous which may make the issue worse or cause a new issue. One reboot a day is better than not being able to boot the PC!
The newer versions of windows(particularily XP) works extremely well when configured correctly.

Until you're cable modem company put's snooping software on your PC during the install, such as PC anywhere...which they can access whenever.

I had a wonderful experience about 3 years ago when updating a virus scanner & firewall. (The one that starts with an Mc).

The previous version had run successfully for a year or more, but the new version was not so good.

Eventually, after much stress etc. and just when I thought I'd got it fixed, 90% of the contents of drive C: just disappeared.

I changed to Norton.
