When in the inbox, double check your View, Current View settings. Make sure that you're not hiding something from display.
If that's not it, move all the mail in your inbox to another folder temporarily. Exit OE. Search your hard drive for inbox.dbx and delete it (include hidden & system files in your search). When you restart OE, a new inbox will be created and you can move your mail back.
