OE 6 & XP - user switch cases parameter changes

Greetings,

I am trying to set up two users on XP with individual Outlook Express 6 accounts.

For both users, I set up the OE settings, send and receive a test mail, everything is great. Switching between users via XP fast switch also great. But...if I close OE for either user, the parameters changes as follows:

pop.mymailname.com
changes to
localhost

username@mymailname.com
changes to
username@mymailname.com/pop.mymailname.com

Does OE have some sort of autoupdate or something? I put in the correct parameters, apply the changes, and everything works until the program is closed and reopened, and then new the changed parameters are there instead.

I'm lost. Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

Check your antivirus software. Certain versions of PC-Cillin and Norton AV do this intentionally. They are essentially using a temporary holding area to scan e-mail for virii before delivering it to the mail client. Sometimes it works OK, sometimes not. If your mail client is retrieving mail OK then leave it the way it is. If the mail client stops receiving mail, then disable the e-mail scanning component of your antivirus software.

Excellent call - I didn't even think of antivirus. And this pc uses PC-Cillen, which I'm not familiar with at all - I'll bet you are right on. I'll give it a try.
