OE 5 Problem

Here is my problem,

I had an error when sending all emails via outlook express version 5, i renamed the folders.dbx file to folders.old, restarted outlook express and the problem was resolved, however i can not now access any of my emails in my inbox it says that there are 6 new emails in the inbox but will not display any (not even the old ones)i have tried deleting the folders.dbx file and renaming the folders.old back to a dbx thinking that this may fix it but it does not, is there any way to repair the inbox as there is with outlook.
