OE 5 - Inbox Messages disappearing

I am running OE 5 on Win 98 and Norton AntiVirus 2002. I had about 2 years of incoming message going back to 2000 disappear on me. I did nothing about it but ran it for the last 3 weeks and now all but 3 recent messages have also disappeared.

Any ideas

Check your auto-archive settings. Maybe it is set to remove messages that are very recent.
