I have a VFP 6 application that has been upgraded from vfp 3 due to memory issues.

Installs of the app has been clean under 98/ME/XP *XP using fat32*

A client had installed the app under one of his systems running XP using NTFS and every time he activates the app, he gets a "FILE IN USE" error, however if he selects "ignore" he's able to use the application w/ no problems.

Anybody know what is or could be going on?

Is it possible one of the files is set to read-only? Like the exe perhaps? Mike Gagnon

Well, that is a possibility I suppose, but since there isn't a problem under systems I tested under using the same install sets, I think it's more likely a result of something in their configuration.

Not sure if NTFS vs win32 is a part of the problem or not

Is that app creating a log file that might be inaccessible? Or maybe FoxUser.dbf?
You may want to add an error trapping routine (It doesn't hurt to have one). Take some suggestions in thread184-449505.

Mike,

You are 100% right, until this problem, there wasn't much concern over any type of specific error report, I've never had a problem that only was visible on a 'certain' configuration.

I'm going to see about adding something into the app and email the updated 'exe' to the client, and see if that will shed a little more light on the issue.

I would help if I was able to reproduce the problem on myside. :-/

Thanks for your help in this, I'll post more as I know more
