Here's a head-scratcher for you all:

We're on G3R v8.4. TTI enabled. We have an extension 1234 used for conference calls and we need to try and ensure that this phone cannot be TTI'd out (dissasociated with its extension).

People are fighting over the extension number and I'm looking for ways to secure it. Changing the FAC for TTI is unfortunately not an option.

Any ideas...? Thanks in advance!

Make the number a VDN or a hunt group extension number that routes the callers to the conference phone with a non important extension number. Or in the hunt group case put the non-important number extension of the conference phone in the hunt group that has the desired extension number.

You cannot un-tti a hunt group or VDN!!!

Sorry Netcon1, I've explained it wrong (though that was a good solution),

The extension that is valuable was the conferance phone but has now been taken by a 'special line'. The users of the conferance phone want their old number back & keep un-tti'ing the extension we have given them.

We them to keep the number whether they like it or not. We are even thinking of locking the cables in somehow to keep them from unplugging it!

How can I secure the phone so tti on that extension is unusable? I think it may be impossible with PSA (Personal Station Access - individual security numbers) the only (purhasable) option.

Any other ideas?? - many thanks

This sounds like a case where if upper managment is your friend you should ask them to stop the idiots. Something like: "If you don't stop messing with the company equipment you will be terminated."
I would assume it was upper managment that requested the number be used for something else.....

Defjon,

Check out the COS tables. You may find you can deny it there i think.

lever.

If changing the FAC for TTI isn't an option, how about changing the TTI security code - page 2 (for r11) on the feature-related system-parameter (cha sys fea)?

I also agree with Bobg1 - request that your management have a word with the idiots.

Thanks for the responses!

Bobg1 - you're spot on that she needs terminating, is building to a good argument actually as the manager who took the number is high ranking but timid (!) but the user is one of those really jumped up PA's (you know the type, thinks her authority is as good as her boss's) to another manager (no.2) - I'm sure that manager no. 2 will be involved before the week is out....all good fun.

Anyway, thanks lever but though PSA is there on COS it is not enabled so I can't turn it on, and there's no option to 'allow tti'.

SF0751 - this is the option we will probs go with - we don't want to change the FAC as it is uniform across all sites but could get away with the security code I think.

Thanks for all your help
